A beautiful operation of customization by 10 artists on the Volvo S60, at the beginning of February. The session lasted 5 days and each artist had a half-day to transform the car into objet d'art, through painting and tagging. This all took place in central station of Zurich. ........I was translating this from French so some of it may sound weird...lol....;/

Just wanted to write this blog to mark a big piece of my and the world's history. Michael Jackson was rushed to the hospital
yesterday around 2 pacific time suffering from cardiac arrest. They were unable to revive him and the official announcement of his death went out over the CNN airwaves around 4:30 pacific. I must say that we have lost a great great man and the world will never be the same. Michael Jackson has changed the world is ways I only wish I could. His humanitarian efforts, his monetary donations and his love put many stars to shame and that's before talking about his musical accomplishments. My mind is a little flustered right now but what I will do is post a timeline of videos to retrace this great man and his talents:) I'm not sad because of his death, I am happy that he is in a better place.....no longer under a micro-scope, no longer being accused, no longer trapped in his castle....he is free.

approach for these shoots: She had very sharp lines that weren't as apparent in soft light so I went dark and shadowy. Hard light used up top to create shadows and show her bone structure. Softlights to create a slight fill.

According to a press release sent Wednesday, Santogold, the stallion-riding genre-mixer, has changed the middle letter of her name, thus becoming Santigold. The announcement goes on to explain, "She’s not telling you why, that’s just how it is. No unpronounceable symbol, no numbers where they shouldn’t be ... just plain ... Santigold."

In keeping with the "not telling you why" part, her representative has stated that he has no further comment. Of course, the singer's name is Santi White, but why bother with a name change now, after a tremendous wave of momentum that placed her debut album in nearly every 2008 Top 10 list?

White's name-changing fracas began, according to Stereogum, in November when a press release from the mtvU Woodies Awards referred to her as "Santi (the artist formerly known as Santogold)." The Prince-like name change didn't stick but it did draw attention to why she might've done it. Turns out that lawyers for an '80s infomercial/cult artist by the name of Santo Gold filed a lawsuit in June against White, Downtown Music and Lizard King Records, claiming name infringement. Santo Gold is seeking compensatory damages, an injunction barring the use of the "Santo Gold mark or anything substantially similar" and the recall and destruction of all items already in commerce allegedly infringing on the Santo Gold mark.

Wesley Pentz, a.k.a. Diplo, was also named in the lawsuit, which alleges that he used a sample of Santo Gold saying, "Now ladies and gentlemen, we proudly present in person, Santo Gold!" as the introduction to the Diplo-Santogold "Top Ranking" mixtape. This move, the litigation asserts, reveals the "true nature" of White's "bad faith and malicious intent to confuse the public and injure Santo Gold's career." Diplo's representation did not respond to Pop & Hiss' request for a comment.

In addition to pursuing his lawsuit, Santo Gold, whose full name is Santo Rigatuso, has also made a YouTube video, in which he states, "I'm the real Santo Gold... don't use my name to create your fame. Believe me, kid, this isn't a game." And it appears that someone recently messed with the Santogold Wikipedia page; this Google cache captures it from Feb. 7. Note the interjections of "Santi White, impostor that has stolen the name from Santo Rigatuso" and other such claims on the page.

Jill L. Abitbol of the Lustigman Firm, counsel to Santo Gold, had this to say Wednesday about White's name change: "It's nothing that's been done in accordance with any agreement with my client." She went on to say that the "litigation is ongoing" but that the name change would indicate that White "has been infringing on our client's name and has decided to change it." In another conversation today, Abitbol added, "We've taken a position that it does not remedy the infringement."

Sounds like White hasn't quite worked her way out of this pickle yet. Either way, we're looking forward to the next album, no matter what name it's filed under.

Chello Dudes and Dudets!!!
Sorry for the lack of blog posts, I walked into an invisible house and couldn't find the door. After making a bomb out of cereal and invisible carpet I'm BACK!!!!! I have been working on several major changes to my site, K-WUD as a brand as well as the expansion of what can be offered to future clients when working with me. One major change that I can tell you about is that www.k-wud.com is no longer going to be just me, it now will be us. Of course I will always be K-WUD but in order to provide top quality service on the larger projects that are coming in I am expanding my team into an army. The crew will be called The Pixel-Army and shall consist of extremely creative and talented individuals that will be able to provide top notch creative in almost anything pertaining to media and the digital arts. This team will specialize in coming together for the production of large projects with a creativity that cannot be provided by larger business entities. I look forward to unveiling this team to the world but for now stay tuned as the changes begin.

Sometimes I wonder if I was a musician in a past life. When I listen to music from Cab Calloway, Billie Holiday, Nina Simone or any of the other greats I get this creative tingle in my bones. It's almost uncontainable like catching the Holy Ghost...lol. Hear are a few inspirational videos that help me to think outside the box. They also remind me that humility is the key because "there ain't nothin new under the sun"...lol.

The New Voice of Black Music

Soooooo I've come up with this theory about music. I heard Russell Simmons say that as crazy as Hip Hop may get these days it is still the voice of the people (Black and Latino people I assume). Of course after hearing him say that I began wondering how true that is. Honestly, I feel like he was right in some regards but most hip hop sales are from non-minorities. It still is the voice of somebody but I do not believe it totally satisfies the originators of the music anymore. Most super large hip hop artists aren't even in touch with the communities they came from so how can they possibly be the voice of of their communities. I also find it hard to believe that people in the hood are driving Ferrari's in Miami to party like rockstars.

I feel like Black America is attempting, once again, to show the world that we are worth more then 50 Cent. Artists like Deep Cotton, Janelle Monae, J. Davey and Santogold will soon take the world by storm (in the same way as Erykah Badu did with neo soul) and will be heavily supported by black college educated audiences. They should have major sales in general but their music appeals stronly to audiences that are tired of being force fed "I beat your ass" music or music that forces them to uphold the stereotype. This audience understands what is means to be who they are and they want to show the diversity of being who they are. The fusion of punk, rock, R &B, hip hop, jazz and everything else under the sun also appeals to this new and growing black middle class youth that would prefer to just have fun without upholding negative stereotypes. So in conclusion, Russell Simmons was correct but I do not think he realizes that hip hop has a very different audience to which it speaks to. It's original audience has now created a new style that is a current and more diverse representation of it's creators.

She Beats Mugs...lol

So as you may or may not know, your boy K. WUD has been working with Mugbeater for the past few weeks on some make-up shoots. I must say she is one of the most talented MUA's I have worked with since I started in this photography game. Aside from that, her openness to be creative inspires me to be more creative. I also love the fact that she is grounded in reality. I have met several MUA's that aren't very friendly and it is such a relief to meet someone cool and talented. We are about to take this world by storm so watch out. Keep your eyes open for the union of K. WUD, Mugbeater and Chevon.....this one is going to change the game!!!!!

Miami

Salt water, sunny skies and beautiful women....lol...what can you say about that. I went down to Miami to take a short vacation as well as get some location shoots in. I must say Makisha did a great job on the sandy shores of South Beach. We cranked it up around 5am and knock out two shoots before the sun came in to claim it's turf...lol. Even though we got the shots that we needed I learned once again that when shooting on the beach call time should be at 3am. That would have given us more time to eat and not rush make-up and wardrobe. All in all it turned out great.
When we finished shooting we definitely had to take in some of the local craziness Miami had to offer. From Jet skiing to eating Captain Crab Garlic crab on the beach we had the best time ever! I can't wait until the 4th of July, I hope to see you there!!!!!

Trip to Columbus

Have you ever been so proud of someone that would give them the world if you could? Going to Columbus and seeing my friend of somthing teen years graduate was definitely one of the high points of my life. To see someone triumph over the things that she has triumphed over only showed me that it would be selfish of me to ever give up. She made it from Morris Brown to Columbus University and I can't wait for her next move. Aside from seeing her graduate I got to hang out with a woman I have been crushing on for awhile now:) What do you do when someone comes into your life and you know that she could be the one. You have no questions....no fears.....you just know that if that person isn't for you then who is? I must say, she makes me smile...and that's all I need....:)

What's good everyone,
The past two weekends I have had about a million photoshoots with Ashley Collate, my most favoritest model. Everytime we shoot we produce the craziest pictures. I don't know if it's because we have the same birthday or the fact that we were both born up north but I feel comfortable as hell around her. With most models I feel like I have to act a certain way to maintain my photographer face but with her I can relax and make magic. If I make it big she is definitely coming with me...my mommy, her, Calisha, Nina, KB and my folk Tamela are all going with me. Big up to my people, if it wasn't for you that crazy girl and crazy events might have crushed me. Thank you and now it's time for me to make all of you proud, prepare yourselves because I'm about to give you the world.

Soooo, I'm in New York. I haven't been in this city since I was a child but I feel like I'm finally home. I finally got to meet my sister after 20 years and it was amazing! I am now on my way to get some shots of the city and to visit agencies. After that I'm going to China town to eat some China China food. I love Atlanta but damn why do I love New York soooooo much.
